60 Days Out of Stealth – Another New Beginning!

ShareTwitterfacebookLinkedin

After nearly two years of building under the heavy cloak of stealth, this past summer we went into full-on launch mode for 3 months to get the biggest bang possible for the unveiling of our secure backup as a service.  Though it’s come and gone in a flash, it was an incredibly successful debut and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that gave their time and effort to the launch including media, analysts, bloggers, customers, partners and, last but certainly not least, everyone at Clumio!

Since then, the action has been more intense, and more fun, than opening a chess game with the King’s Gambit!!

First was a flood of inbound interest from potential employees from all disciplines looking to join the Clumio journey to ‘SaaS-ify’ enterprise backup and pivot their careers to go where the industry is rapidly moving – the public cloud. Investors also came knocking which was very humbling in terms of the kinds of firms and individuals interested in the journey. Not only for the investment opportunity but because they want to offer their experience to help contribute to our success.

VMworld was our first ever show and we rolled in as a silver sponsor – perhaps an unexpected move for a company that didn’t have a website 13 days before. But it worked out well as the momentum from the launch carried through to the event where we were able to introduce Clumio and our secure, backup as a service to thousands of attendees.  Even Pat Gelsinger came by to check it out for which we were certainly grateful. The highlight for the team was on the last day of the show where we were extremely proud to earn the ‘Best of Show’ award in both the data protection category and the show overall.

Since VMworld, it has been really exciting to see the customer response. We have clearly hit upon a problem that resonates with enterprises regardless of where they are on their cloud journey. If they are on-prem and want to move to the cloud, backup is a great use case to get started. If they are in VMware Cloud on AWS or consuming native AWS services, being able to protect data everywhere with the same backup as a service knocks out complex backup infrastructure and eliminates budgeting guesswork.

And most recently, we celebrated our two year anniversary! Yet we know that we are just getting started; a new phase of the journey and another new beginning.
